Cecil E. Wolberton is a retired U.S. Army officer with over 20 years of distinguished service. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Wolberton’s Army career spans a range of leadership roles and deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia. Throughout his Army tenure, Wolberton advanced from an enlisted soldier to ultimately retire as a Lieutenant Colonel. His experience in tactical operations, strategic leadership, and international relations, combined with his years of military service, provides him with a unique perspective on the Army’s inner workings.
After retiring from the Army in 2022, Wolberton transitioned to the civilian sector and now serves as a senior executive at a global marketing agency in Chicago. He oversees the agency’s marketing initiatives for public sector clients, utilizing his strategic leadership skills in this new setting. His combined experience in the military and marketing allows him to continue his commitment to mentoring, leadership, and making a meaningful impact in both fields.
As the U.S. Army approaches its 250th anniversary in 2025, Wolberton felt compelled to share his personal experiences and insights in A Civilian’s Guide to the U.S. Army.
